Fortuitously located in the middle of the mediterranean, no doubt by some benign gods, the Balearics is an autonomous region of Spain, made up of three principal islands: Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca. The other, much smaller, islands of Formentera and Cabrera with the more isolated ones of Dragonera, Conillera and Espalmador, complete the archiepelago.
Sa Dragonera nature reserve, comprised of Sa Dragonera island and the Es Pantaleu and Na Mitjana islets, is located to the west of Mallorca, beside the town of Sant Elm in the municipality of Andratx.
Mondragó Nature Park is located in Cala Mondragó, to the south of Mallorca, in the municipality of SantanyÃ. The protected natural area, which spans an area of 785 hectares, is comprised of S'Amarador beach, the dunes and wetland area behind the beach, as well as Mondragó beach, the Ses Fonts de n'Alis wetlands and the surrounding cliffs, cultivated land and bush land.
The National Maritime-Terrestrial Park of the Cabrera archipelago is located south of Mallorca and is made up of 19 small islands and islets, spanning an area of 1,318 hectares over land, as well as a surrounding marine area covering an area of 8,703 hectares.
Minorca Airport is situated approximately 4.5 kilometres to the southwest of the island's capital, Mahon. It is located in this municipality and that of Sant Lluis.
